I've been working in the off hours to get this done in time for a baby shower this weekend, and despite a sewing machine breakdown, a two am stint sewing binding, and pulling it out of the dryer mere minutes before I hopped in the car to go, it's finished!
After giving my scraps away for so long, I thought it would be great to actually make use of them for a change.
This quilt uses 3" X 8" pieces of scrap fabrics - vintage, japanese, modern cottons, along with lots of white. The back is kono cotton's cyan and grass green, with a strip of Denyse Schmidt's Katie Jump Rope and Amy Butler's Lotus. If I didn't think it was perfect for the baby (whose gender we don't yet know), I would have kept it for myself!
Diagonal quilting gives it nce soft lines, and a good washing filled it full of old fashioned wrinkles.
Yay for finished works in progress!
